Reston Real Estate Go to project…

Reston Real Estate was an individual final project for CMSC485 (Web Database Design). It is written using PHP, HTML, and CSS and it originally was integrated with an Oracle database using ODBC. For my website, I wanted to give a demonstration of a LAMP environment here on my site, so I migrated it over to a MySQL database. Reston Real Estate

I am using mysqli in place of Oracle’s ODBC for the database queries. It involves simple queries ranging from select, insert, update, and delete to handle most of the functionality. The sales stats page incorporates MySQL’s sum, round and average aggregate functions to handle the basic calculations. The professor did not provide any templates. This was built entirely from scratch. There are a few things that need working on, but it performs as it is supposed to. I could have used more functions and less files when creating it, but for its purposes, it gets the job done. The more I look at it though, the more I want to scrap it. However, its always good to look back to see how far I have come. This design incorporates validation and filtering techniques to prevent attacks by SQL injection. I think the main thing I would change is the work-flow. It isn’t a very intuitive UI and as a result leaves an opening for introducing error to data entry if not understood well.
The program stores information regarding real estate agents, their clients and each sales transaction. It also provides sales statistics for the company as a whole and for each individual agent. Please feel free to test it.
